Fits and fainting

Dogs can have fits for a variety of reasons. Some dogs get primary epilepsy, which often starts at the age of 2-3 years. It can be very frightening when your dog has a fit but try not to panic.

What to do:

  • Turn off the lights, radio, TV to darken the room.
  • Remove all furniture from the vicinity.
  • Do not go near your pet's mouth as you may get bitten.
  • If your dog is still fitting after 5-10 minutes, your pet may need sedation. Contact your vet.
  • Take your dog for a full health check within 2 hours.
