Where did you buy your policy?
Travel insurance cover for volcanic ash depends on the distributor a customer has purchased their AXA Insurance travel policy from. If covered, customers can claim for reasonable unrecoverable costs for the delay or cancellation of flights and/or accommodation. All customers who have purchased AXA's Independent Traveller insurance extension will be covered for a number of elements related to this unprecedented event. To find out whether you are covered and further details, please refer to your broker or the company you purchased your policy from.
We advise customers who are currently out of the UK to keep in touch with their relevant airline or tour operator for guidance on arrangements to travel home as well as any subsistence benefits (i.e. additional hotel accommodation) they may be entitled to. Our policies will continue to cover customers for any medical expenses, baggage, theft or liability claims until they return home. Where customers have bought a single trip policy, we will extend this if necessary to cover additional time spent outside the UK.
