(14/06/2006) Scottish businesses shortlisted for AXA 'Business Oscars'
AXA today announced the five Scottish businesses that have been shortlisted in the AXA Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year Award category of this year's prestigious National Business Awards programme for Scotland 2006 - dubbed by Gordon Brown as the 'Business Oscars'.
The shortlisted businesses battling to win the title of Scotland's AXA Small to Medium Business of the Year are as follows:
- Bigmouthmedia, Edinburgh - www.bigmouthmedia.com - a search engine optimisation and Internet marketing specialist new media agency.
- Harper Macleod LLP - www.harpermacleod.co.uk - based in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness, this is a full service commercial law firm with a reputation for innovation and a progressive approach to the law. The firm is well known for providing practical solutions to the demands of the corporate market place.
- Petroleum Experts Ltd, Edinburgh - www.petex.com - Petroleum Experts is a petroleum engineering company that has developed a unique set of engineering software tools to help companies increase their production.
- Petrotechnics.com, Aberdeen - www.petrotechnics.com - Petrotechnics works with senior executives in leading global oil and gas corporations to radically improve frontline work execution.
- Rocela Limited, Edinburgh - www.rocela.com - Rocela was formed to provide a unique, independent service for Oracle clients looking to improve the way they procure, manage and deliver Oracle based projects.
The winner of the Scottish AXA Small to Medium Business of the Year Award will be crowned at The Hilton Hotel in Glasgow on 14 September.
The AXA Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year Award recognises businesses for their entrepreneurship and innovation and aims to highlight the importance of management excellence in maintaining a successful business today and continuing to grow it in the future.
In addition to winning a day with an AXA Business Consultant, the winner will win a place on the AXA Small to Medium Sized Business Masterclass that takes place at a chateau in France. Over the three-day course the delegates will have their management and business skills finely tuned by some of AXA's leading business experts.
David Aiston, the AXA Scotland Regional Judge, said: "I am delighted to have been asked to take part in judging the Scottish finalists in the second year of the AXA Small to Medium Sized Business of the Year Awards. The finalists are all outstanding examples of the high quality of businesses in Scotland and we wish them all the best of luck in the final - choosing a winner is going to be a difficult task for the judging panel."
