(05/04/2007) AXA appoints new UK communications chief
AXA has appointed Tony McGarahan to the newly-created role of Group Corporate Relations Director for the UK.
Tony will be responsible for all AXA's corporate communications including media relations, financial communications, public affairs, CSR and internal communications to AXA's 13,000 staff in the UK.
He joins from Citigate Dewe Rogerson, the leading City PR agency, where he was a director in its financial practice. Prior to this, for over four years, he acted as the principal communications adviser to the new Board of Equitable Life, the beleaguered life and pensions group.
A trained journalist, he has over 20 years experience in corporate PR and marketing communications. He has been communications director and member of the Executive Committees for a number of national and international businesses in the financial services sector (Equitable Life, AMP, and Birmingham Midshires Building Society), property sector (Taylor Woodrow plc) and leisure (Mecca Leisure plc) as well as having been a Director of two leading PR consulting firms.
