(20/09/2007) Ian Robinson appointed Group Business Risk Director of AXA UK

AXA UK announces that Ian Richardson will retire as Group Business Risk Director of AXA UK on 31st December 2007. He will be replaced by Ian Robinson, currently Chief Operating Officer, HSBC Insurance Holdings.

Ian Richardson, who is 62, has been Group Business Risk Director of AXA UK since 2004, with main Board responsibility for Operational Risk, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal and Company Secretarial matters. Ian is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (FCIS) as well as being an Advisor to the Institute and a member of the Court of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. Ian joined AXA's subsidiary, Sun Life Corporation, as Group Company Secretary in 1993 and was appointed to the same post when AXA UK (then known as Sun Life and Provincial Holdings) (SLPH) was formed in 1995. He played a key role in the public offer of shares in SLPH and its listing on the London Stock Exchange in 1996, the merger of Sun Life and AXA Equity & Law in 1997, the acquisition of Guardian Royal Exchange in 1999 and the Scheme of Arrangement in 2000 whereby AXA bought out the minority shareholders in AXA UK.

Ian Robinson will (subject to regulatory approval) take up the role of Group Business Risk Director in succession to Ian Richardson. Ian Robinson joins AXA UK from HSBC Insurance where he holds the role of Chief Operating Officer. Ian has responsibility for the oversight of operations, risk management and compliance within the insurance operations of the HSBC Group world-wide, including pensions, broking, healthcare, general and life insurance activities. Previously, Ian worked in the internal audit function of HSBC and then focused on the insurance aspects of their securities and corporate finance businesses. Before this time, Ian was at Deloitte and Touche where he specialised in the London Insurance Market Insurance business and led a range of external audits and consultancy work.

Ian has also worked for the Financial Services Authority, undertaking a 12 month secondment from HSBC to establish the FSA Insurance Risk Review team.
