AXA's advice to its travel insurance policyholders
In view of recent weather conditions and wide spread flooding across the country, AXA has reviewed its travel insurance conditions to provide the following guidance to customers.
If you have had to cancel your holiday because your property has been affected by flooding or because you have been advised by the Emergency Services not to travel, then AXA will settle your claim subject to policy conditions.

Please Note: These guidelines are issued to answer specific queries relating to the recent floods and extreme weather conditions. Normal terms and conditions apply for any other incident which is covered by the policy.

| Your policy provides cover for cancelling your holidays or curtailing your trip if your home or place of residence has been damaged by the recent flooding (*).AXA acknowledges that the police and other official authorities are currently very busy coordinating an emergency response and as such your insurers are relaxing the terms of the policy which requires the insured to provide a letter from the police as a means of validating you claim; instead we may require other forms of proof to validate your claim. (*) subject to cover being available on your policy |
| I wish to cancel / cut short my holidays as I have been told by the Police or other official organizations (Fire Brigade, Environment Agency) that my house is at a high risk of sustaining damage from flood. |

| AXA is again prepared to relax existing rules to accommodate claims from customers who have received an official notification and or instructions from the police, fire brigade or other official agency of a real and serious risk to their homes. All claims will be handled sympathetically and on individual merits. Customers will be asked to provide confirmation of notification received from the authorities. |
| My flight has been delayed at point of departure (this applies to outbound flights from the UK and flights from your international point of departure to any UK airport affected by the flood / extreme weather condition) |

| Most of our policies provide cover for flight delay due to flood or extreme weather conditions. Please check your policy and contact our claims services if necessary. Please ensure you have all documentation available. A letter from your tour operator or airline (for independent travellers) confirming the delay is required as a means of making your claim. |
