Putting you in control of your retirement planning. You can choose how much and how often you contribute to your pension, subject to certain limits. And when and how to take your benefits.

What is it?

  • It’s a long-term pension plan specifically designed with your changing needs in mind, allowing you to build up a retirement fund in a tax efficient way.
  • It offers you the benefits of a personal pension, combined with the choice to invest in a range of investments.


Retirement Wealth Account is provided by AXA Wealth Limited which is part of the AXA Wealth proposition, and a member of the AXA Group.

What does it offer?


Flexibility – with no minimum contribution, this Plan is designed to allow you to build up your retirement fund in a tax efficient way. You can make regular or single contributions at any time, before you reach age 75. For full details see the Product Guide.

Investment choice – choose between investing exclusively in AXA Wealth Pension Funds or opt for full self-investment, giving you access to a wider range of additional investment options as well as AXA Wealth Pension Funds.

  • AXA Wealth Pension Funds - choose from our Multi-Manager Range, Family Fund Range and the Tailored Selection which provides a range of externally managed funds.
    You can currently switch between AXA Wealth Pension Funds free of charge as your objectives or the investment climate changes. Restrictions to fund switching apply and are detailed in our Terms & Conditions.
  • Self-invested option - allows you to invest in a range of HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) permitted investments. This includes stocks and shares, collective investments, commercial property and deposit accounts, as well as the AXA Wealth Pension Funds. It does not include any investments that might incur a tax charge under HMRC rules.

Retirement options – you can start taking your benefits from age 55. Subject to HMRC and Department for Work & Pensions rules, you can take your benefits in full or in stages to suit your needs. You do not need to decide how you wish to take your benefits until you are ready to take them.

Transparent charges – we have a policy of open and transparent charging. Our charges will vary in line with the investments you make, hold and sell and any other options featured in the Plan which you may use throughout the life of your pension.

Charges are taken to pay for the cost of setting up the Plan, any advice provided, fund management and administration of your Plan. Please note some investments under the self-invested option may have an initial one-off charge.

What should you bear in mind?

Before making any decisions you should consider the points below:

  • You need to be aware that the value of your initial, and any additional, investment could fall as well as rise and is not guaranteed. You could get back less than you invest.
  • The value of any tax benefits will depend on your personal circumstances – your Financial Adviser will be able to help you determine whether it is right for you.

  • We could refuse or delay switch requests, limit the number of switches, and impose a switch charge in the future. Full switching details are given in the Terms and Conditions.
