Worming

It is important to worm your cat regularly. Almost all cats will get worms at some point and even if your pet looks in perfect condition they may still be carrying them. A cat carrying worms does not necessarily show any outward signs of ill-health and the problem may therefore be difficult to diagnose. The main types are roundworms and tapeworms. There are others but they are very rare in the UK but be cautious if taking your pet abroad on holiday.

Your kitten should be treated for roundworms at four to six weeks old and then every two to three weeks until they are four months old. After this, they should be treated for both roundworms and tapeworms every six months.

Worming tablets are easily available and will generally treat both types of worm in a single treatment. Please be sure to follow the instructions carefully.
