Allergies

Sometimes your pet will develop a swollen head or get big raised wheals on its body. This is caused by an acute allergy. Possible causes might be a bee sting, plant pollens or even something in the diet. Most allergies usually disappear in a few hours but in some severe cases the larynx or voice box can also swell up causing obstruction to the airways. If your pet is uncomfortable you can relieve the swelling by applying an ice pack - even a pack of frozen peas will do. If your pet is showing discomfort and distress seek veterinary attention immediately.
