Applying an emergency muzzle to dogs
A dog that is injured, frightened and in pain may bite. The following procedure should not be carried out if your pet has breathing difficulties.
- Approach the animal from the rear.
- Make half a reef knot in the centre of a tape/bandage leaving a loop below the knot.
- Slip the loop over the muzzle and tighten the knot just sufficiently to hold the mouth closed.
- Bring the ends under the muzzle, cross them over and bring behind the ears, then tie in a simple knot.
