How we’re supporting domestic abuse survivors

In the last year, 3.8 million adults experienced domestic abuse in the UK*. We’re working with charities to provide support to survivors when they are ready.

Domestic abuse often hides in plain sight and within everyday language.

Supporting our customers^ who are experiencing domestic abuse

Working with Women’s Aid and Smart Works, our Specialist Support Teams are trained to understand, respond and act to help all our customers, of any gender, who are experiencing domestic abuse. From referrals to our connected charities and access to an AXA support fund to help cover essential costs.

Women’s Aid

A national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children for over 50 years. Our Specialist Support Teams can refer survivors to Women’s Aid for confidential, personalised support.

Smart Works

A UK charity that helps women transition into employment. Survivors referred by our Specialist Support Teams can access interview and career coaching, along with professional clothing for interviews.

Help create safe and supportive workplaces

The workplace can be one of the few places where people experiencing abuse feel safe. AXA Safe Spaces is a free global online training programme, developed with experts and charities, to help businesses and individuals create supportive environments for colleagues experiencing domestic abuse.

Supporting our colleagues

Here at AXA, our own Domestic Abuse Policy supports colleagues facing difficult situations. They can access confidential support, additional paid leave and referrals to dedicated resources for ongoing support.

Creating a better future for families

We’ve partnered with The For Baby’s Sake Trust – a charity dedicated to breaking the cycle of domestic abuse in families and giving babies the best start to life. Last year, our colleagues donated over 300 items and packed 73 hampers to support local families with everyday baby essentials such as clothes and toys in time for Christmas.

If you need alternative support

Domestic abuse can affect anyone regardless of age or gender.

If you need alternative support, the Women’s Aid website provides other organisations you can get in touch with.
