What is Backseat Boss?

Backseat BOSS is a new educational initiative from AXA, aimed at improving road safety through schools.

AXA’s research shows that 85% of drivers admit to dangerous driving habits1, putting themselves and others at risk.

By equipping pupils with the knowledge and confidence to talk about safer driving behaviours at home, we can create a ripple effect that reaches beyond the classroom – encouraging better habits behind the wheel and making our roads safer for everyone.

We make road safety rules stick, with -

  • Fun games and activities for the classroom
  • Simple, memorable safe driving rules
  • All lesson materials provided

For schools

Backseat Boss is:

  • Aligned to the PSHE Programme of Study
  • Easy to implement, with all materials provided
  • Available at no cost to your school

What do you need to do to run your session?

  • Decide if you would like to run your session in a classroom or an assembly. Then download the relevant pack.
  • The slides, scripts and lesson plans will guide you through your session. The behaviour flashcards, traffic lights, safe or danger cards, and the bingo video and card, will help you play the games. Please note that the steering wheel cutout and sunglasses cutout are optional.
  • Finally, we have provided a certificate to reward your pupils with upon completion of the session.

For parents

Backseat Boss is a great way to:

  • Discuss road safety at home
  • Teach good behaviours that last a lifetime
  • Reflect on your own driving, too!

For local authorities

Backseat BOSS is a great way to:

  • Support public safety goals
  • Support schools in your area

With no further funding required from schools. Please download our info pack and share it with schools in your local area.
