AXA UK and Ireland has announced changes to its Management Committee portfolios following the recent appointment of Shali Vasudeva as Chief Operating Officer.

Shali’s COO responsibilities will be focused on delivering more robust operational stability across the business and working with the Operating Companies to remove complexity for customers and members. Therefore, effective from 1 March 2019, Shali will be responsible for a number of business areas including IT, Customer Insight, Digital, Procurement and Property. This includes leading the Transformation Office and the Simplification Programme as previously announced.

Additionally, the Strategy, Brand and Communications functions, along with Customer Proposition and Innovation, will become part of the CEO’s office. Amber Wilkinson, currently Finance Director at AXA PPP healthcare, has been appointed as Chief of Staff to Claudio Gienal and will head up these areas. Amber will be responsible for leading the ‘Beyond 2020’ strategy as well as for the reputation of the AXA Brand in UK and Ireland, effective from 1 April 2019.

As part of this realignment Darrell Sansom, currently Chief Customer and Innovation Officer, will move to a new role working with Phil Bradley, CEO AXA Ireland, on supporting plans to diversify the Irish business.

“These changes at a senior level are designed to reflect our desire to focus firmly on our customer experience and simplify decision making. I am confident that the new structure and governance will allow us to deliver against the priorities we have set.”

— Claudio Gienal, Chief Executive, AXA UK & Ireland
