AXA Home Insurance - Flood Advice.
Security
- Make sure your premises are as secure as possible as looting can be a problem if you are away from your home.
- If you do evacuate to another location ensure that you advise the local emergency services that you have vacated your premises and how you can be contacted, otherwise they may force entry to check that no one is trapped in your home.
- In the event of flooding, carry out regular visits to your property and look for any breaches in security that may have occurred.
- Consider taking valuable items away from the property.
- Don't assume your security safe is water-tight. If this is on the ground floor of your property, you may wish to empty it and take contents away. You may want to store these in a bank safety deposit.
- Emergency services may be tightly stretched and may not be able to attend a call as fast as normal.
