As we know your home is important to you, we wanted to let you know about a new campaign we are launching together with Neighbourhood Watch.

The AXA Community Challenge starts this month to find the nation’s best community. We want to find the community that cares, the place you feel really at home – and we need you to be involved.  If you think your area is the most neighbourly, the safest, the cleanest, or has the best independent shops, enter the competition now and tell the nation.

Research¹ carried out on behalf of the campaign shows that half of us Brits would rather drive to the shops than ask a neighbour for a cup of sugar. Seven in ten of us don’t socialise with our neighbours, and rather than popping next door for a friendly cuppa when someone moves in, more than one in five of us (22%) can’t even bring ourselves to say hello on the street.

Despite this, one in two of us (50%) admit that a neighbour’s willingness to help others gives a sense of community, with half of us (51%) acknowledging that a community is important (rising in importance as we age, peaking as we hit retirement age). In fact, for seven in 10 (69%), the key benefit of living in a community is friendliness, closely followed by helpfulness (60%).
